About
Hailing from the Busia border, Edrisa Bosa, known as Smat Bovin, navigated a challenging upbringing within a large, impoverished family. Despite being the middle child, he embraced responsibility early, driven by a hardworking spirit. His father, a primary school teacher, inspired his early education at Madibira Primary School. Smat Bovin continued his studies at Busia Trust Mixed Day and Boarding for O'levels, later transitioning to Mbogo Secondary in Kawempe, Kampala, for A'levels.
Despite humble beginnings, Smat Bovin harbored grand ambitions, often dismissed by his family as unrealistic for someone of his background. At fifteen, he met Bwire Samuel, also known as Pyano Pax, a kindred spirit with a shared vision. Together, they began recording in local village studios, their passion for music igniting and growing rapidly. They envisioned brighter days ahead as aspiring artists. Smat Bovin often credits Pyano Pax as the creative force behind their music, calling him his "ghost magical writer." He is known for his respectful and social demeanor.
After completing his secondary education, Smat Bovin and Pyano Pax formed #Rich A Tym Music, aiming to elevate their artistry. They released the single "Tokigeza," which was later re-recorded for the EP "PnB Rocks." Despite facing challenges with airplay, their dedication to creating music remained unwavering, resulting in more inspiring and lyrically rich pieces. The global challenges of recent years significantly impacted their marketing efforts, but they persevered.
Smat Bovin emphasizes that their duo never dissolved. Pyano Pax strategically shifted his focus to writing and production, allowing Smat Bovin to shine as the vocalist. The year marked a turning point for Smat Bovin's career, bolstered by the support of the #Rich A Tym family. This period saw the release of popular tracks like #Namula, Fire Burning, Sikyayitaba, and Gukuba, featured on his album "My Time Is Now."
