Shine Star

Kirungi Tusabe Godwin, known as SHINE STAR, is a Ugandan artist from Kagadi town. A proud Munyoro-mutooro, Mukwonga by clan, he infuses his music with diverse styles including Ragga, Zouk, Afrobeat, R&B, Band, and Dancehall, singing in Swahili, Runyoro, and English.

SHINE STAR's musical journey began early, participating in school and church choirs before joining a brass band. Despite financial challenges that impacted his education, he persevered, completing his A-levels.

His talent was evident even at a young age. His debut song, "SENTE KISUMURUZO," composed and produced in primary school, surprised listeners with its mature, educational themes. Following this, he released "NENYUMA," which marked the beginning of his growing circle of musical collaborators and his move to Kagadi town.

SHINE STAR has since worked with various studios, producing hits like "AKUKUGONZA," "Ninye," "Tiharoho kasozi," "Bingambe," and "Okanteera." He gained significant recognition with the love song "Magical" and the impactful track "AKELLO," which resonated across several Ugandan districts.

His song "BALI CEYI" initially a freestyle, took on a political dimension following the 2021 elections, becoming a nationwide demand and leading to a rapid video production. This cemented his popularity and financial success in music. He has since released numerous tracks, including "Byakupatiika" and "Cwaamu yoramira."

SHINE STAR's political commentary in his music, exemplified by the anthem "BYE HONOURABLE," has led some to label him a political artist, a perception he navigates as he continues to produce music for various figures in the country.
