Born Kakooza Michael, Michael Ross began his musical journey at age eleven in a high school group called BOYZ IN RYTHM. Though the group disbanded, Michael continued to pursue his passion, excelling in high school talent shows as a dancer.
He gained local fame in college as "The Usher of Uganda," captivating audiences with his energetic impersonations of his idol, Usher Raymond. At nineteen, Michael Ross decided to seriously pursue his music career, collaborating with producer Steve Jean to create the hit song "Señorita." This track became a major success, earning Michael Ross an award for Best RnB Song of the Year and paving the way for subsequent hits like "How Do You Love Somebody," "Yo the One," and "It's Over Now." His debut album, "Yo the One," was met with critical acclaim.
A pivotal moment arrived when Michael Ross embraced singing in Luganda, a move that resonated deeply with the local audience and resulted in the smash hit "Yooyo." This success led to further nominations and solidified his place in the industry.
