Mercy Akuot

Mercy Akuot is a gifted artist hailing from the Dinka community of South Sudan. Her music, a vibrant fusion of urban sounds, Zouk, and jazzy touches, is currently captivating audiences with her hit single "Anavyonifanya," produced by Herbalist under the guidance of Kevin Wyre.

Mercy's musical journey began in her youth, singing in church and at school. Her career has since been on a steady ascent, leading to performances alongside established artists and at significant events like World Refugee Day and 16 Days of Activism. She draws inspiration from Ugandan artists Maurice Kirya and Irene Namubiru, whose music she finds both nostalgic and soothing.

Beyond her music, Mercy is a dedicated advocate for women's empowerment and supports underprivileged schools in refugee camps. She is currently in the studio crafting her debut album, which will feature collaborations with other artists.

Forced to flee South Sudan due to conflict, Mercy spent her childhood between her homeland and Uganda, where her passion for music blossomed. Her family found refuge in Kenya, and Mercy views her refugee status not as a limitation, but as a temporary circumstance on her determined musical path.
