May Gerry Kawaala

May Gerry Kawaala is a gifted gospel artist, composer, songwriter, worship leader, and Christian counselor. Her passion for music was ignited in her childhood in Africa, deeply influenced by her mother and grandmother's hymns and bedtime stories.

Saved at sixteen, May immediately began serving God, leading praise and worship at a prominent fellowship in Kampala. She later joined the World Outreach choir, ministering through worship and praise across nations. Simultaneously, she nurtured young hearts in a children's ministry, sharing spiritual hymns and games.

May's journey continued with the Redeemed Church Makerere, where she collaborated with Evangelist Drake Kanaabo and Pastor Robert Kasaija. Together, they spread the gospel throughout East and Central Africa. Over the years, May has released numerous impactful songs and albums, including "Kanya kusubira," "Balina omukisa," "Onsasiire," and "Lindirira Mukama."

Her latest album, "Tumutendereze Eyawangula Ensi," performed in her native Luganda, translates to "Let's praise Him who overcame the world." This powerful collection is inspired by May's personal journey of faith, her teenage struggles, and her unwavering zeal as a new Christian convert. Despite facing adversity and feelings of inadequacy due to her background, May's deep resolve to serve the Lord Jesus fueled her perseverance. She found strength in her faith, believing it would yield fruit, as reflected in Matthew 6:33.

During a season of prayer, the Holy Spirit inspired the words for "Tumutendereze Eyawangula Ensi." This song serves as a profound message of encouragement, affirming that Jesus' victory over the world empowers believers to overcome their own crises. May shares, "My savior has overcome the world, and surely I will overcome this crisis."

May and her husband, Pastor Benon Kawaala, have been married for over thirty years and are blessed with four grown children. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, they are active members of the worldwide ministry Healing Outreach. Through her music, May continues to minister, teach, and mentor others, sharing her faith and inspiring hope.
