Jua Cali

Paul Julius Nunda, known globally as Jua Cali, is a pioneering Kenyan hip hop artist celebrated for his distinctive genge style. Performing primarily in Kiswahili and Sheng, he co-founded Calif Records, a label that has become synonymous with the genge genre and a powerhouse in East African music.

Raised in Nairobi's California Estate, Jua Cali's journey into music began at a young age, nurtured by his family and a passion for rhythm. Despite exploring other avenues, including a brief stint with a band and aspirations in basketball, his path ultimately led him back to his musical roots. Teaming up with childhood friend Clemo, Calif Records was born, quickly establishing itself as a hub for groundbreaking artists and innovative sounds.
