Jose Chameleone

Jose Chameleone, born Joseph Mayanja in Uganda, is a celebrated Afrobeat and reggae musician. Known also by stage names like Joe Chameleon and Chameleone, he stands as one of Uganda's most popular artists of the 21st century, with a significant following across Africa. Chameleone captivates audiences with his performances in Luganda, English, and Swahili, and many of his songs have become iconic catchphrases.

His musical journey began in the early 1990s as a DJ in Kampala. Signed to the Kenyan label Ogopa DJs, his early success was cemented with hits like "Bageya." Chameleone's distinctive sound blends Ugandan folk music with Central African rumba, zouk, and reggae. He has released numerous albums, showcasing his evolving artistry.

Beyond his music, Chameleone is dedicated to social causes, participating in initiatives to combat poverty and raise HIV/AIDS awareness. He has also performed extensively internationally.

Chameleone is married to Daniella Atim, and they have several children. His brother, Douglas Mayanja, is also a prominent musician.
