John Cutter

John Cutter is a Toro vocalist, primary writer, and lyricist for the band Vocal Budget. He was previously well known as the lead singer for the hard rock band Fastway.

John grew up in a small tenement in Rwamagembe, Mbale. His parents bought him a guitar when he was very young. After his father passed away, John left Mbale in his twenties. He briefly resided in Kampala before moving to Wakiso, where he first joined Fastway. Later, he formed Vocal Budget with Blackman, Bad Young, and Eva J.

After emigrating, John was unable to visit his home or family in Mbale for fear of immigration laws preventing his return. This separation from his homeland and his mother is believed to have significantly influenced many of Vocal Budget's early song lyrics, with themes of exile often appearing.
