Joanita Kawalya

Joanita Kawalya is a celebrated Ugandan musician and vocalist, known for her captivating performances and enduring presence in the music scene. Nurtured by her father, the legendary Eclas Kawalya, Joanita began honing her vocal talents at a young age through school and church choirs, building a foundation of confidence and skill.

Her talent was recognized early on, leading to opportunities that further developed her artistry. Later, she joined the renowned Afrigo Band, where she has served as a lead vocalist, gracing audiences with unforgettable renditions of hits like "Jim," "Mpeddembe," and "Suzana," among many others.

Beyond her musical career, Joanita is a passionate advocate for social causes. She has composed songs addressing critical issues such as health, women's rights, and domestic violence. Her commitment extends to her roles as a Community Advisory Board Member for Makerere University John Hopkins, a Goodwill Ambassador for Palliative Care Uganda, and the Head Trainer for Kisaakaate Kya Nabagereka. Joanita Kawalya continues to inspire through her music and her dedication to making a positive impact.
