About
Luyima Ivan, known professionally as Ivodrous, is a dynamic dancehall, reggae, and ragga artist, songwriter, and missions director hailing from Uganda. He also shines as a TV and radio presenter on Dream TV and Impact FM, respectively, and is a sought-after events MC.
Hailing from a close-knit family of six boys, Ivodrous, the fourth born, was primarily raised and educated by his mother. He undertook various jobs to fund his education and meet his basic needs. His early passion for music and performance began in high school, where he showcased breakdancing skills to Michael Jackson's hits and sang in the church choir. After high school, working in a music library and repairing computers exposed him to a wider range of music, igniting his desire to write and record.
Ivodrous began his musical journey by writing for other artists and recording secular music, performing in clubs and bars. He later joined a dance group, performing creative routines to diverse music, including gospel artists like Kirk Franklin and Papa San. This involvement drew him closer to the church, where he eventually embraced his faith and embarked on a gospel music career. He penned numerous impactful gospel songs, such as "Mukowoole," "Majanjalo," and "Entalo," which gained significant traction within communities, leading to frequent invitations to perform at concerts, crusades, and schools.
His ministry matured as he founded the Gospel Tour Ministry, dedicated to reaching the needy with the gospel through acts of service. He continued to release popular songs, including "#MyEverything" and "#Weterekere," culminating in the widely loved anthem "Am a Believer," which explores the essence of faith and love. Ivodrous has since released other hit songs like "#Tuli Ku Kitufu," "#Nikitazama," and "#Teri Kuzikiza," resonating with both young and old audiences.
A favorite among children and youth, Ivodrous imparts positive messages and wisdom through his school and crusade engagements. He has mentored many, earning the affectionate title 'Papa' from his spiritual children. He is also dedicated to uniting artists, creating platforms like "Gospel Heartbeat" in Kampala, which showcases gospel talent and fosters fellowship between artists, presenters, fans, and industry stakeholders. Ivodrous firmly believes in the supremacy of the gospel industry and the power of gospel music, driven by a passion for nurturing emerging talent.
Ivodrous is known for his engaging performances and versatile MCing at various events. He is a collaborative artist who values positivity and excellence in his work. His guiding principle is to always give your best, not for human applause, but as a true believer, holding firm to the message of "#Teri Kuzikiza" and the strength found in Philippians 4:13.
