By the time of his passing, Wamala had amassed a catalog of over 60 songs, including notable works like "Nabutono," "Viola," "Welcome Pope Paul," "Akaana Ka Kawalya," and "Ebinyumu Ebyaffe."
Born Elishama Lukwata Wamala, his musical talent was evident from a young age. Raised by his uncle, his ability to entertain was recognized early on. He pursued his education, studying linguistics, poetry, and prose at Makerere College. His musical journey continued with guitar studies in Kenya and England, where he earned a Banjo Mandolin Guitar diploma. He also studied TV production in Wales before returning to Uganda to work with the national broadcaster.
