Dr Billy Lo

Dr. Billy Lo, born Garyaija Isaac Magyezi, is a prominent Afrobeat, reggae, and R&B musician from Uganda. Known also by stage names like Brown Star and Billy, he has established himself as a highly popular artist across Uganda. Dr. Billy Lo captivates audiences with his music sung in Runyankole, Luganda, and English. Many of his hit songs, including "Mpereza," "Omuntu Wishokye," "Hellen," "Tube Barungi," "Ebizibu Tibyomwe," "Nibibasika," and "Belise," have spawned popular catchphrases. He is the son of Magyezi Benon and Adrine Magyezi.

Dr. Billy Lo's musical journey began in the Ntungamo district of western Uganda. He founded his record label, ELITE MUSIC EMPIRE, and quickly gained recognition with early singles like "Belise" and "Obonaire." His musical style is a vibrant fusion of Afrobeat, Ugandan folk music, R&B, Central African rumba, zouk, and reggae. His debut album, "Ebizibu Tibyomwe," was followed by several successful releases, including "Tube Barungi," "Nibibasika," "Hellen," and "Omuntu Wishokye." Dr. Billy Lo has significantly contributed to the development of western Ugandan music, earning accolades for his Afrobeat, inspirational, and love songs, and was recognized as the best western Uganda upcoming artist.

Beyond music, Dr. Billy Lo is a multifaceted personality. He heads BROWN STAR FILMS, a videography company specializing in events and music videos. He is also a well-regarded radio presenter and TV personality in western Uganda, having honed his skills at Radio Ankole.

Dr. Billy Lo, a Protestant, was born and raised in the Ntungamo district. He is known for his amiable nature and commitment to fostering positive relationships within the music community, advocating for unity over conflict.
