Derrick Tha Priest, born Derrick Muhiirwa Mutekanga, is a Ugandan poet and rapper whose passion for music ignited during spirited "Freestyle Friday" rap cyphers with friends at Namilyango College and Kitende S.S.S. After a profound encounter with faith, Derrick embraced his calling as a Christian rap artist, channeling his newfound purpose into his music. He honed his artistic skills while studying Architecture at Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi, and after graduation, he committed to pursuing his musical aspirations with renewed dedication. Now known as Derrick Tha Priest, he uses his lyrical prowess to share his unique perspective on life, vividly illustrating the transformative power of faith through his compelling music projects.
