Deena Herr

Deena Herr, a self-proclaimed musical diva, is dedicated to championing African languages. She passionately sings in Luganda, Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, and English, aiming to showcase the beauty and richness of these indigenous tongues. Deena's performances are a testament to her deep connection with the music, often surprising listeners with her authentic delivery and ability to capture the essence of the lyrics.

Her journey began with a volunteer stint in Rwanda, which led to her first visit to Uganda. Since then, she has returned multiple times, falling in love with the country, its people, its vibrant culture, and particularly its diverse musical styles. Deena believes in the power of expressing oneself in one's native language and finds African languages to be exceptionally beautiful and unique.

She embraces the challenge of singing in African languages, seeing it as an opportunity to highlight the incredible talent and distinctiveness of the continent. Inspired by Africans excelling in global genres like hip hop and R&B, Deena advocates for them to infuse their local languages into these styles, creating something truly extraordinary. While continuously refining her skills, Deena is already working on new music, collaborating with Meddie Menz and drawing inspiration from her favorite Ugandan artists.
