About
Mutesasira Araphat, known professionally as Araphat Seventeen, is a Ugandan hip-hop artist, poet, and author hailing from Masaka in the Buganda region. His musical journey began in primary school, where he was a prominent member of various school choirs and began composing original music by the age of eleven. In 2011, he recorded his debut RnB single, "Tell Me," drawing early inspiration from Maurice Kirya.
By 2013, Araphat transitioned into hip-hop, leveraging his background as an accomplished poet and writer. Influenced by legends such as G.N.L Zamba, Babaluku, and the Luga Flow Army, he solidified his place in the genre while attending Archbishop Kiwanuka Secondary School. He holds deep admiration for artists like Bana Mutibwa and St. Nelly-sade, citing a collaboration with them as a primary career goal.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education in Literature at Kampala University, Araphat balances his academic life with his creative pursuits. He is presently working on his debut hip-hop album with KIR RECORDS, driven by his faith and the enduring support of his mother.
