About

Apple Fruit, born Kadafi Kabanda Joseph, is a Ugandan singer-songwriter and musician who embodies the vibrant spirit of Afrobeat and contemporary African music. His unique sound blends traditional Ugandan rhythms with modern Afrobeat, Pop, and R&B.

Apple Fruit's journey began in rural Uganda, facing significant hardship. Financial constraints led to his education being cut short, and at a young age, he fled to Kampala, enduring life on the streets. These challenging experiences, including survival through theft, have left an indelible mark, and he continues to navigate the emotional scars and a lost sense of identity.

Music became Apple Fruit's solace and a path to a better future. His breakthrough came when he was commissioned to write a song about infidelity, a theme that deeply resonated with his own experiences of pain and betrayal. The resulting song, "Cheating on Me," captured raw emotion and marked the beginning of his musical career.

With the support from his early commissions, Apple Fruit began to see music as a viable means of expression and livelihood. He has since released a string of compelling singles, including "Mpaana," "Ndoga," "Leero lwasanyu," "Nerira Mbuzi," "Cheating on Me," "Rebuke Devil," "Akawala" (featuring Joylor T), and "Eno Weekend" (featuring Junks). His talent also led to a commission for a song on women's empowerment, resulting in the powerful anthem "Abakazi," advocating for respect and dignity for women.

Apple Fruit has been recognized as a Rising Star at the Uganda Music Awards and was nominated for Best New Artist at the East Africa Music Awards. His live performances are a testament to his energy and passion, connecting with audiences through his Afro-centric sound. By celebrating African culture and identity, Apple Fruit's music serves as a powerful voice for the new generation of African artists, uniting and inspiring through the diverse and creative landscape of contemporary African music.
