Angella Katatumba, a Ugandan, was born on February 21st in Nairobi, Kenya. She is the daughter of H.E. Dr. Boney Katatumba, the Honorary Consul of Pakistan in Uganda, and Gertrude Katatumba, proprietor of AFK Beauty Clinic Kabalagala. She has a sister and seven brothers, including her twin, Rugiirwa.
Katatumba received her primary education at Katatumba Academy in Uganda (1986–1994). She then pursued higher education in Canada, earning a Public Relations Diploma from Belmont Senior Secondary School (1994–1996). She continued her studies at Oxford Brookes University, England, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Law (1996–1999) and a Master's in International Management/Public Relations (1999–2000).
After university, Katatumba moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she held several prestigious management roles in the hospitality industry, working at Buca Di Beppo Restaurant, Isaac Hayes Restaurant, and Majestic Star Casino from 2001 to 2004.
Returning to Uganda in 2005, Katatumba became the Managing Director of Hotel Diplomate in Kampala, a position she holds currently. Concurrently, she launched her professional music career, focusing on English-language songs to reach a global audience, influenced by her Western upbringing. She has released two albums, *Peace* and *Glad I'm Alive*, and is currently working on her third, *Supernatural Girl*. Her albums feature collaborations with notable artists like Butcherman, Bebe Cool, Navio, and Keko.
Beyond her music, Katatumba established the Angella Katatumba Development Foundation (AKDF) in 2006. Through AKDF, she spearheads impactful humanitarian initiatives, including the "For You Gulu" project, which uses music to raise awareness and provide aid for war-affected regions in Northern Uganda. Her "Let's Go Green" campaign, launched after being appointed the International Climate Change Icon in Uganda by the British Council (2010-2011), promotes environmental awareness through music and educational outreach, including performances at global summits like the one in Cancun, Mexico.
