About

Allan Manzi (born January 19, 1988) is a Ugandan film director. He completed his master's degree in film and television in New York in 2014. Manzi has contributed to over 25 productions, including "Meet Mario" and Netflix's "Master of None."

His production, "Meet Mario," earned him his first award for Best Short Film at the 2014 Hoboken International Film Festival. That same year, his short film "Father Must Die" received a nomination at the African Movie Academy Awards. In April 2015, he collaborated with other Rwandan youth in the U.S. to release the visual song "Intashyo."

Manzi spent three years working at NBC Universal in New York before establishing his own production company, MANZI MEDIA, in 2016.

His debut Ugandan short film, "Rehema," written by Usama Mukwaya, premiered at the 38th Durban International Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Short Film. It later won the Best Short Film award at the 2017 Uganda Film Festival. "Rehema" is currently being adapted into a TV series in Uganda. Manzi is also developing his first feature film, "SAINT KIZITO."

Beyond film, Manzi ventured into music in 2017 with his debut EP, "5 Degrees Left of Heart," performing tracks like "A Feeling Inside" at Uganda's A ka Dope showcase. In 2018, he focused on releasing his EP and directing his own music videos.
