A Pass

Bagonza Alexander, known professionally as A Pass, was born on December 21, 1989, in Kampala, Uganda. He is a singer-songwriter who has achieved significant success in the Reggae and Dancehall music scenes. A highly versatile artist, A Pass performs in four distinct musical genres. He began singing in church as a child in Kampala, where his vocal talents were evident from an early age.

Inspired by the music he heard in his father's car and motivated by his parents, A Pass's passion for music flourished during his high school years. He recorded his first song, "Proud to be Saved," at fourteen and followed up with "Love Is a Beautiful Thing" at nineteen. Since then, he has consistently recorded and archived his music.

A Pass's music has gained considerable popularity with hits such as "WUUYO," "TULI KUBIGERE," "AM LOVING," and "MUMPULIRA," which have dominated Ugandan airwaves and are frequently requested on prominent radio stations like Sanyu FM, Capital FM, and Radio City. His talent has led to numerous collaborations with both Ugandan and international artists, including Patrobas, Ekky, Mun G, DJ Crim, Don MC, Cindy, Tasha Batabazi, AY, A.I.P CYPHER, and Navy Kenzo. Other notable songs by A Pass include "One Of A Kind," "Burn Op," "Nyenya Omugongo," "Run Bou Ya," "Love Infection," "I," "Bartender," "So High," "Muliwa," "Listen To Di Voice," and "Wyne On Time."

A Pass has been recognized with several awards and nominations. He received Hipipo Awards nominations for Best Dancehall and Breakthrough Artist in 2014 and won the Buzz Teeniez Awards for Best Breakthrough and Dancehall Artist in the same year, as well as the Zzina Awards for Best Breakthrough Artist. He attributes his success to hard work.

Music industry critics have praised A Pass for his impressive delivery and unique blend of Luganda with Jamaican Patois, recognizing him as a valuable addition to the music industry. He has collaborated with renowned Ugandan and international music studios and producers in the Reggae and Dancehall genres, including Alex (A.I.P), Black Spyda, Nessim (Badi Musik), Imon (Southside), Baru (DustVille), Nash, Benon, Just Jose (Swangz Avenue), and Samurae (Talent 256).

A Pass aspires to an international career, aiming to join the ranks of artists like Vybz Kartel, Chronixx, Konshens, Shaggy, Tommylee Sparta, and Alkaline. He views his journey as a fulfilling and challenging experience, driven by his passion for music. His primary objective is to elevate music to its highest potential, with the ambition of having his music known and loved in households worldwide. He describes himself as a "walking art piece" and a "ball of creativity."

Currently, A Pass is a sought-after brand ambassador, associating with corporate entities such as Buzz. He has been involved in projects like Ambition Mission, aimed at sensitizing youth about the dangers of smoking and alcohol while encouraging education and life goals. He has also collaborated with Airtel Uganda on several projects, including "Happiness Continues," "Kyabiise," and "Tugabane."
